JIMMY TAKES THE LEAD

Bexhill's Jimmy Robertson celebrated his 13th Birthday by taking the lead in the 1999 Peradon and Frank Sandell Snooker Grand Prix Series. His victory in the Medata Challenge at Chichester's Triangle Club saw him become the youngest ever winner of a Grand Prix event and by beating the reigning Grand Prix champion and winner of this year's first event, Matthew Barnes, 17,  Robertson rose to the top of the rankings in the £2500 series.

Robertson, who beat West Sussex U21 Champion David Morgan in the semi's, saw his high break of 102 from the first tournament surpassed by Barnes' run of 110 in his semi-final victory over Chichester's "Mighty Atom" Matthew Stadius, 14,  who was making his first appearance in the last four.

The Senior Handicap event was taken by Barnham's Lee Donaghy - an England Pool International - who beat Brighton's Jamie Walsh in the final. The Junior Handicap was won by Michael Collier, 11, of Worthing, who beat East Grinstead's Kevin Ward.
