MILLER'S PERFECT RECORD
Scott Miller, 17 of Brighton won the opening ranking event of the Peradon and Frank Sandell Grand Prix Series 2000 with a perfect record. Miller didn't drop a frame all day as he won the Mandarin Championship at Worthing's New Central Club.
Beaten finalist was Bexhill's 13 year old talent Jimmy Robertson who didn't play well all day but was still good enough to reach the final.
The semi-finals saw the last two players from the host club eliminated. Number four seed Damian Donovan, 17, lost 2-0 to Robertson and Daniel Goodwin, 15, put in a fine performance to record his best ever finish before losing 2-0 to Miller. Another host club member Billy Rushton, 10, is now ranked ninth out of the 110 participants after losing on the final black of his match in the last sixteen to Brighton's far more experienced Neal Gozzett, 16.
Both Handicap events saw a Chichester player triumph over a Worthing member. In the junior section Jason Ewens, 13, beat Michael Collier, 12 and the senior section saw Chris Dynes, 15 win his first title after two final defeats last season by beating Lars Attwood, 14.
The prizes were awarded by Frankie Tsang of the Mandarin Takeaway of Worthing and he had the dubious pleasure of giving the junior highest break trophy to his 12 year old son Chi Wah who knocked in a 27.
