MAXIMUM MILLER MAKES IT A HAT-TRICK

Scott Miller, 17 of Brighton who recently made his first maximum 147 break won the third ranking event of the Peradon and Frank Sandell Snooker Grand Prix Series 2000 to maintain his unbeaten record.

Miller's victory in The Roundstone Car Centre Championship at Worthing's New Central Club puts him 15 points clear of nearest rival Jimmy Robertson, 14, who has been the beaten finalist at each of the three events so far. Miller won the final 2-0 with breaks of 60 and 41.

Miller had a couple of scares on his way to the final, notably in his fifth round 2-1 victory when he required breaks of 55 and 46 to narrowly beat Worthing's Simon Lawrence, 18. Another Worthing player - Adrian Croft, 16 was also only dispatched 2-1 in the quarter-finals. Miller reached the final with a 2-0 victory over Chichester's Chris Francis, 17, whose second successive semi-final has taken him to third in the rankings.

Robertson reached the final by beating first-time semi-finalist Pritesh Patel, 14, of East Grinstead who also took the senior best performance award for his fine achievement. Robertson made the days highest break - 92 - in his 2-1 quarter-final victory over Worthing's Blane Torode.

The Handicap events saw two Worthing players beaten by players from Lancing and East Grinstead. In the junior section Lancing's Stefan Chandler, 10, beat Jimmy White, 13, and the senior section saw Daniel Gould, 15, beat Niven Beaumont, also 15. Chandler is now the joint leader in the Handicap Rankings with Chichester's Chris Dynes, 15.

The junior best performance award went to Worthing's Craig Mitchell, 13, who reached the junior handicap semi-final - knocking out last year's Handicap Grand Prix Champion Chi Wah Tsang, 12, on the way.
