MILLER BOWS OUT AT THE TOP

Scott Miller, 18, from Brighton won the Peradon and Frank Sandell Snooker Grand Prix Series 2000 in magnificent style, winning all six ranking events and dropping just ten frames in 36 matches. For good measure, in the second event, Miller made the highest break in the history of the Grand Prix series - a superb 118. Miller made the highest break in five the six tournaments.

In his final season in the Grand Prix series, Miller was clearly determined from the outset to win back the title of Grand Prix Champion that he first won in 1997. To win all six tournaments is a feat which has never been achieved before and it will take an equally talented individual to equal it or improve on the finer statistics.

Runners-up spot went, for the second year running, to Jimmy Robertson, 14, of Bexhill who the final of all five tournaments that he entered. Robertson's time should have now arrived and he will be the hot favourite to take his first Grand Prix title in 2001.

The Handicap Grand Prix Champion is Michael Collier, 13, of Worthing. Collier reached three handicap finals during the season, winning one, to narrowly edge out East Grinstead's Daniel Gould, 16 who won two Senior Handicap tournaments. Third place went to Brighton's Jake Flynn, 12, who won both the Junior Handicap events that he entered.

The award for Best Performance of the year went to 11 year-old Billy Rushton of Worthing who received the Barracuda cue kit for his efforts during the season which saw him finish in the top 16 of a series that featured over 130 seven to eighteen year olds. Best Newcomers for the year were Jake Flynn and Worthing's Kevin Bushby, 13 and Mark Hare, 18,  also from Worthing won back his entry fees for the season.

The top prize in the Frank Sandell coaching school is the GF Sandell Memorial Trophy for the Clubman of the year which goes to the person who best demonstrates the coaching school's motto of Friendship, Sportsmanship and Skill. The deserving recipient this year was 18 year old Graeme Mitchell who has been in the coaching school for many year's and epitomises everything that the coaching school strives to achieve.
