Frank Sandell is a qualified coach through both the original Control Council Scheme and was advisor to and one of the first to qualify under the current EASB scheme. He presently runs the largest junior coaching organisation and the largest set of junior tournaments in the UK. Private coaching is also available, either at your club or at our superb private facility illustrated below.
The Frank Sandell Coaching Schools and Grand Prix Series are acknowledged as the largest in the UK with each tournament having at least 100 entrants and the coaching school seeing between 150 and 200 members each week.
The coaching school's motto is "Friendship, Sportsmanship and Skill", with the skill the least important factor - overall enjoyment of cue-sport is the main aim. We operate a coaching by incentives scheme whereby every member is taught to coach themselves through a series of structured exercises. Upon successful completion of each stage, a trophy is awarded and the member can then progress to the next level. As each task is completed it is recorded on a sticker card.
The coaching school's teach members not only snooker, but also billiards and alternative games as well as history, equipment and table construction, refereeing and making the most of a good knowledge of the rules.
The coaching school's began in 1982 when Frank Sandell along with ITV commentator and former top eight snooker player Jim Meadowcroft set up a Saturday morning coaching group for local youngsters in Worthing. One of the first members was Allison Fisher who has gone on to win seven world ladies snooker titles and three ladies World 9-Ball titles and did much to inspire Frank's enthusiasm for running the coaching schools.
